#1 Dad is a podcast in which comedian Gary Vider unpacks the impact of growing up with a dad “unlike any other” and, after 24 years without any contact, seeks to track his elusive father figure down.

You see, Gary went viral a few years back, telling stories from his childhood wherein his father, the aforementioned #1 Dad, pulled a series of cons including, but not limited to, sneaking into a run of high-profile sports games.

Little Gary Vider found himself meeting sporting giants like Michael Jordan, via a father who seemed to be gaining VIP access as part of a game all of his own. Of course, the cons didn’t stop there, and a ripple effect led to a broken home and multiple estrangements. And that’s just where this story begins!

Each week Gary is joined by the people in his life — his wife, friends, comedians, etc — to discuss his past and then make moves towards tracking his father down to get answers and potentially some kind of future involving his father and his son. Did I mention Gary had a son? It’s kind of what kicked off this whole journey for him.
