The Pitch:
A pro wrestling podcast with Steve and Larson
The Product:
A nomination for the podcast name most in need of a brand name update, Going in Raw is a much more inclusive and safe space than it’s unfortunate name — and genre of wrestling fandom podcast — might suggest.
Steve and Larson embody the “hanging out with your friends” vibe that we here at Podcasteroid champion that every podcast should have. In wrestling parlance that is their gimmick. And it’s one that they will beat you over the head with. But in a good way. Using a metaphorical steel chair of friendship, perhaps.
Anyway. They call their listeners Friendos. They take listener questions and feedback. Most importantly, they ebb, flow, and evolve with the world of wrestling (and the world beyond it).
The introduction of AEW into that world has brought me, and other lapsed wrestling fans, back to obsessive levels of interest again and Steve and Larson are right there with us, marking out at the good, cringing at the bad, and excitedly going through the hypotheticals of what might come to be.
There’s a good natured odd couple dynamic here, pitting Steve’s haphazard, giddy charisma against Larson’s calmer, more thoughtful, stoic persona. Though it’s not as…
