This Ends At Prom Podcast Review

The Pitch:

A coming of age podcast about teen girl cinema.

The Product:

This Ends At Prom is a weekly podcast that can serve as a much needed dose of comforting nostalgia, or the latest dish in a binge of discourse about a trending new release. Get yourself a podcast that can do both, you know?

Each week the hosts BJ and Harmony bring what can only be described as an unfiltered joy to their episodes. Which, given the subject matter, and the place of women in film, podcasting, and the world, they don’t have to bless us with. But they do, and it’s enough to melt this curmudgeon’s heart.

As wife and wife, the hosts have irresistible chemistry and charm that immediately feels welcoming. This is no mean feat, as spousal co-hosts can run the risk of leaving the listener feeling left out of the hyper-specific in-joke-du-jour. No such pitfalls here, there’s very little preamble, and the anecdotes are (almost) always relevant to the film.

Sounds fun, right? Well here’s the thing. It’s also part of a movement that takes teen girl cinema seriously. And thank goth for that. It’s not that I don’t like 208 minute podcast episodes about Fight Club (looking at you Blank Check), it’s just good to have a balance.
