WTF with Marc Maron Podcast Review

The Pitch:

Marc Maron interviews creative people.

The Product:

Look, I know. WTF is not some hidden gem that I am uncovering for any of you. It has 1,500+ episodes. It has been around for more than a decade. It was deemed a worthy enough media vehicle for a certain former American president.

It also follows the format of “comedian guy interviews other comedians/actors/creatives” that this very microblog has railed against. Hey, it probably invented the format.

So, why now? Well, it’s not a new podcast for us, either. It is one that we have fallen back in love with. It started when we watched Maron’s most recent standup special, which is a brilliantly crafted piece of art covering life, death, and grief. That would be enough to recognise Maron’s genius, but there’s more.

Here’s the thing, Maron is a cantankerous older man who is continuing to focus his ire on fascism. You know, fascism, that thing we all knew was bad in the 40s but somehow have allowed bubble up via power-hungry narcissists?

Instead of leaning right, like many other men of a certain age/demographic/level of success, Maron is diving headfirst into the cesspool and pulling no punches.
