Filip Momirovski — Spaceships — Interview

We first reviewed comedy sci-fi audio comedy Spaceships back in 2022, praising its “lush soundscapes” and “snappy writing” while also making a predictable amount of rocketship puns.

Now, we’re delighted to share this interview with creator Filip Momirovski! Based in Macedonia, and working with a team both local and from an entertainment hub far, far away, we delve into what led him to audio storytelling, its pros and cons, and where his journey may lead next.

When did you start listening to podcasts and what was the first you were a fan of?

Not long before I decided to turn Spaceships into a fiction podcast, actually. Originally, I was writing Spaceships as an animation script, but getting an animation off the ground is not an easy task as those types of productions are quite expensive. Then I read an article about the rise of fiction podcasts, that they were a kind of a revival of radio dramas. The article suggested that fiction podcasts might be a good testing ground for screenwriting ideas. I started listening to several shows, but I can say that the very first thing that really grabbed me was “In a World Where”. It’s just six episodes and I loved each one.
