Partners Podcast Review

The Pitch:

A podcast about partnerships, creative and otherwise.

The Product:

Partners is a podcast by musician and designer Hrishikesh Hirway and it is similarly structured to another show of his, Song Exploder. Each episode features an interview with two guests who are a partnership, about their story and their process. It’s a Mailchimp podcast, which is an odd thing to say, but it’s an interesting subplot in the bigger story of where podcasts are at in 2022.

As with Song Exploder, Hirway removes himself almost entirely from the finished product, leaving the guests to speak for themselves without interuption. This already impactful technique is elevated further in this podcast as it allows the natural chemistry of the partners in each episode to shape the story flow.

What’s left is a richly satisfying podcast that flows seamlessly back and forth between the two guests, with an occasional insert from Hirway to provide some context. But these moments are few and far between. It speaks to the talent of the interview and editing process that the finished product sounds like a natural conversation that just so happens to provide lots of insights into the careers of the guests.

I really wanted this podcast to be a two-person production between Hirway and a partner…
