A boozy podcast about mythology, legends, and folklore.
The Product:
Spirits is the type of podcast that is a joy to find. Not only is it funny and informative, it comes complete with 200+ episodes at the time of writing. Each one is meticulously labelled so that you know exactly which myth, legend, or piece of folklore you are about to imbibe. If you like supernatural stories then this podcast is a well-stocked open bar at a Hallowe’en wedding.
More striking than that attempt at an analogy, this podcast was recommended by my sister. Dedicated readers may remember her as the self-avowed comedy-agnostic from last November’s review of Good Ones.
What my sister lacks in affinity towards popular humour, she more than makes up for in appreciation for a good book, sometimes known to consume several in a day, often involving elements of the supernatural, the spooky (not scary), and, for a long time, lot of horses for some reason.
But I digress. And maybe I am being overly familiar here because of the tone that is set in Spirits, regardless of what episode you choose as your first taster. I don’t know co-hosts Amanda McLoughlin or Julia Schifini, nor do I know Eric Schneider who joins on the monthly, audience submissions episodes. But I instantly connected…
